We’re teachers as well; we understand the curriculum, but more than that, we comprehend the pressures schools are under to meet curriculum demands whilst keeping lessons motivational. Our training helps turn outdoor learning into another valuable tool for a teacher to use, suitable for any stage and curricular area.
On the Inset Day, we come to you to provide training for your staff, either on-site or at a nearby wooded area. No nearby wooded area? No problem; concrete playgrounds have plenty of learning opportunities (we promise!).
By the end of the day, your staff will feel more confident and be equipped with ideas they can deliver themselves. However, our support does not end there – all schools that undertake training with us then benefit from a full twelve months’ access to our innovative members site* to support staff, providing curriculum maps, progression planners, lesson ideas, training, and so much more. Included in this, is an additional four hours of consultancy to help support any problems or issues that arise throughout the course of the year – ensuring outdoor learning really does become a tool supporting learners.
While we are based in West Lothian, Scotland, we are happy to travel and provide training throughout the UK and beyond. We aim to ensure training is affordable for all schools, regardless of how small they are. Whether that means a half day of training or working with your cluster, there are always options we can explore.
*Please note: the membership is available for one school only. Should additional schools attend the training, we can offer a discount for their individual memberships.
Example Training Days
Typically, Inset Days run from 9 am to 3 pm with an hour of breaks throughout the day.
As well as the full year of membership and consultancy, schools receive a follow-up pack of lessons and ideas we’ve covered throughout the day.
We always aim to meet schools where they’re at, and so the days themselves do vary depending on what a school needs. Here are a couple of examples of what your training day could look and feel like:
